MODUL - Coastal Dune MorphoDynamics
[Morfodinámica de Dunas Litorales]
MODUL is a project that investigates coastal dune behavior at a variety of scales. We are a team from the University of Cádiz, Universidade do Algarve and the UK Center for Ecology and Hydrology, aiming at integrating knowledge obtained from high-frequency field measurements, UAVs monitoring, and remote sensing.
MODUL is the Spanish acronym for Coastal Dune Morphodynamics, a project funded by the Andalusian Government (Junta), Spain.
For 3 years, we will investigate how coastal dunes change, their implications for coastal ecosystems, and their interaction with coastal communities.
MODUL will integrate empirical observations obtained from high frequency field measurements, monitoring through UAV flights, and remote sensing. The work will allow us to understand processes involved in coastal dune growth, the interaction between vegetation and topography on a landscape scale, and the pressure exerted by human activities.
