The Pint Of Science Festival is an internationally acclaimed event that brings together cutting-edge researchers to share their expertise in a relaxed and informal setting.

Over the course of three days, organizers strive to design a program that is accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. The chosen platform for this event? Bars around the world!

This festival is held annually in over 25 countries and hundreds of cities simultaneously. "Pint of Science Spain" puts the initiative together from Mojácar (Almería), operating as a non-profit organization entirely run by volunteers.

MODUL was honored to participate this year, featuring a talk by Pilar Martín Gallego titled "Observing from Afar: Understanding Ecosystems" (in Spanish). Held on Tuesday, May 14th at the Pay-Pay Café-Teatro in Cádiz, Pilar's presentation delved into both her PhD research and her current role as a remote sensing specialist at MODUL.

Prior to Pilar's talk, Marina Bolado provided an introduction to the Festival, followed by an engaging discussion on ecosystems in coastal cities by María de Andrés García (also from the University of Cadiz). Both researchers belong to the Institute of Marine Sciences (INMAR) of the University of Cadiz. The venue was bustling with attendees of all ages and backgrounds.

It was an immensely rewarding experience in science outreach and communication, and we extend our gratitude to the organizers for inviting us to take part!

The Pint of Science - Cadiz team are Marina Bolado, Javier Moreno Andrés, Carmen Ferrero Martín, Luisa Iglesia Chaves, Rocío Quintana Sepúlveda and Sara Sirviente Alonso. In collaboration with INMAR-UCA, Unidad de Cultura Científica - UCA, and the Pay-Pay Cafe-Theater. Further information here.
