If you could "see the wind", what would it look like?
We have created a small wind tunnel to explain complex airflow processes to broad audiences. The tunnel was built using light materials in collaboration with Aquatic BioTecnhology. It can be easily transported and operated by one person.
The wind tunnel was introduced to the public during the 2023 European Researchers Night, a Europe-wide science communication event. The University of Cádiz organized +60 activities in the historic city of Jerez de la Frontera, covering a wide range of topics from eco-art to robotics, climate change, microplastics, health and many more.
Kids (and adults!) were introduced to laminar vs. turbulent flow, complex airflow processes such as eddies and vortices, and interactions between “winds” and various objects.
